The channels were the bridge between sime and Gen, safely taking Selyn from the Gen donors and transferring it to the renSimes who, it was believed, could not take Direct Gen Transfer without harming the Gen because the renSime cannot control their draw speed and could harm or even Kill any Gen they attempted to have transfer with.
Channels Need Direct Gen Transfer for optimum health and have Companions/Donors who are capable, through natural abilities and training, of serving the Need of the channel. Channels can control their draw speed but must satisfy their personal Need without controlling their selyn draw speed.
